Rotterdamse nachtclub BAR stopt ermee

Een aderlating voor het Rotterdamse (en Nederlandse) nachtleven: BAR stopt ermee. Na zes jaar sluit de club in juni van 2019 voorgoed zijn deuren. ‘Het is tijd voor een verandering’, schrijven ze op hun eigen Facebook-pagina. ’Na zes jaar hebben we de grenzen bereikt als het aankomt op programmering en het bouwen van een community.’ Het team achter BAR werkt ondertussen aan de veel grotere club De Maatschappij voor Volksgeluk, maar het is nog onduidelijk of die plannen doorgang kunnen vinden.

Het hele statement:
‘As a forward-thinking nightclub in downtown Rotterdam with a progressive approach to electronic music, we have done our utmost to show the audience a broad program with experimental electronic music and local talent development, adding to the value of the local music scene. BAR will come to an end on June 29th, 2019. Currently, we are undertaking steps to create a new venue outside the city centre of Rotterdam, but to this day it's still uncertain whether we will be able to go ahead with this project.

Nonetheless, we felt we had to make this choice when it comes to BAR. After six years we have reached our limits here when it comes to programming and building a community. We will use the coming seven months to offer you the best of BAR with a great program of both local talent and big names, dark club nights, basement parties and all the quirkiness that BAR has to offer.’
