Dear friends of Space Siren. Finally the moment which i was so afraid of has come. With great reluctance i have to surrender. We have cancelled all the shows planned. It just became undoable for me. The effects of cancer and the side-effects of heavy painkillers are to heavy to continue. Sometimes it’s just too much, even if you want it so badly.
The game is over.
We will continue to work on and finally finish a brand new but sadly also the very last 7” of Space Siren.
Me, Ineke, Aico and Gwendolien would like to thank you for all the beautiful words and compliments and constantly showing up at our shows and helping us in that way to make every Space Siren show a special one. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!
Corno
SPACE SIREN LOVES YOU!!!!!!
“We knew that the moment would come, but it came earlier that we hoped for”, schrijft Subroutine. “We wish Corno, Ineke, Gwendolien and Aico all the strength they need at this particular time.”
Hier de volledige reactie van Subroutine:
From their first single ‘Verschwende deine Jugend’ we’ve been big fans of Space Siren. During the recording of their mighty double 7" in 2010, we started to work with the band, a cooperation which resulted in two singles and two brilliant albums. We saw countless Space Siren shows; in big halls and small rooms, for big and sometimes small crowds. But regardless, the band was always driven and always dedicated.
Space Siren always chose their own path; in their songs, their sound and their art. Inside or outside the studio, on stage or off stage, Corno Zwetsloot and Space Siren have always been an inspiration and a massively cohesive factor for many bands and artists we know. Yesterday we heard the dreaded news; Space Siren have been forced to quit. We knew that the moment would come, but it came earlier that we hoped for. We wish Corno, Ineke, Gwendolien and Aico all the strength they need at this particular time.
We're very grateful to have worked with them. It was an honour.
