A huge thunderball of flame and smoke.

New Yorkse clubpromotor doet ooggetuigeverslag van ramp WTC.

"Times like these need the artists, poets and clowns of the world."

New Yorkse clubpromotor doet ooggetuigeverslag van ramp WTC.

"Well, the unimaginable has happened. Anu woke me up yelling that a plane hit the twin towers. I jumped out of bed and ran to the roof. Ten minutes later I witnessed the second tower explode. A huge thunderball of flame and smoke. As I write this it is like I'm describing a dream but it was... is horribly real. Anu actually left for work before the second explosion. Everyone was in a state of impossible disbelief. As I watched and filmed the fire, all of a sudden the first tower collapsed in on itself. It was like my eyes were turned inside-out. And then it happened again, to the second one. It is now eight hours later. Downtown, near the center, is still on fire and thick black smoke fills the sky. Anu came back home an hour after she left and Joie DBG came over. We got too spiritually cold watching the news so we walked the strange streets to Sidewalk Cafe. The club was packed with people watching the news, eating, smoking and drinking. A noble understaffed crew of waiters valiantly trying to comfort and serve. We joined in bussing tables and bringing water. Any form of service to keep our minds off of the enormity of events in our backyard. I'd be lying if was to say we weren't scared. But so far New Yorkers are being New Yorkers and trying to cope graciously and with a sense of outrage and ultimately acceptance. Tonight's show at the club was canceled, not enough of a staff to operate things. But we plan to reopen tomorrow night. Times like these need the artists, poets and clowns of the world. People are looking for meaning, clues, anything. How will we travel in the future? What is happening in our lives? What will the new Dylan album reveal? I hope you each have a loved one you can be with and perhaps carry some of it to the strangers of this world who need it most. Love is the answer."
